HER VOICE unites several contemporary classical composers in an intimate performance highlighting texts written or spoken by women across history. Internationally acclaimed soprano Bree Nichols leads the program, delivering the world premieres of songs set to texts by women authors.
From speeches and letters to poems and prayers, HER VOICE explores how women’s voices have borne witness, challenged power, and inspired greatness across time, cultures, and languages. Pianist Ahmad Hedar, one of the most sought-after opera accompanists in the Czech Republic, supports Nichols’ resonant and voluminous soprano in this production from PARMA Recordings.
HER VOICE will feature works by ten contemporary composers: Paul Paccione, Deborah Kavasch, Derek McKinney, Leana Kirchoff, Janice Macaulay, Ferdinando DeSena, Ivar Lunde Jr., Christopher Hoh, Nan Avant, and Christopher Jessup.
